Troy Williams signed back in January, but it's still big news that he is on campus and getting ready for spring football. Williams' journey began at Washington, where he was brought onto campus by Steve Sarkisian as the top dual threat QB according to Scout.com. With Sark leaving to go to USC, Williams saw himself not really fitting into Chris Peterson's style of offense, and decided to leave Seattle for a JC.
Williams measures at about 6' 2" and at around 210 pounds, and is a three star composite recruit by 247sports, and was as high as a four star according to the likes of Rivals.
At Santa Monica Community College, Williams threw for 2750 yards, 31 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, and also rushed for 139 yards and 7 touchdowns. In his film, as you see above, Williams throws a nice ball, and is famous for throwing receivers open. While he is a runner, he wants to run to throw the ball, so he's not run first at all.
Williams is the presumed front runner for the starting role left vacated by Travis Wilson, but will have to compete with Tyler Huntley and Brandon Cox. I'm for one very excited to see what Williams has to bring to the offense, and can't wait to see more of him.
