Utah Football: ATH Julian Blackmon to join Utes in the fall

Utah football will sign Layton HS (Layton, Utah) athlete Julian Blackmon in the fall in a "push forward" scenario, just like Britain Covey this past season.. Blackmon is rated a three-star athlete according to the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is 6-1, 167 with 4.52 40-yard dash (his weight and 40-yard dash are Nike SPARQ verified). Blackmon can play both wide receiver and cornerback. He will most likely start out at cornerback at Utah.

Blackmon is a player that I think has flown under the radar a bit. He has verified 4.5 speed and decent size, which are important to cover the wide receivers he will have to face in the Pac-12. He is not afraid to lay a big hit on an opposing player. He should shine in Utah's defensive scheme. He could also potentially challenge for returning kicks or punts with his speed. Keeping top local talent home is also key for Utah, and Blackmon certainly qualifies.

Blackmon has been committed to Utah since July 20, 2015. Utah defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley was his primary recruiter. Utah was his only Power 5 offer.
