Utah football announced the signing of Chaffey College (Ontario, Calif.) wide receiver Alec Dana. Adding instant impact wide receivers was a top priority in this class for Utah since wide receivers Bubba Poole and Kenneth Scott both graduated and Britain Covey is leaving for a mission. As a JUCO, Dana will be expected to come in and compete right away. Dana has good speed for his size (6-3, 190). At 6-3, he can go up and get the football. He also has the speed and shiftiness to gain yardage on screen passes. He reminds me a bit of current Utah wide receiver Tim Patrick or a faster, slimmer former Utah wide receiver Anthony Denham.
His only other Power 5 offer was from Washington State. This gives me more confidence in Dana though because WSU coach Mike Leach knows talented wide receivers. With how much WSU throws the ball, it was a nice recruiting win to land Dana over the Cougars. Dana will have plenty of opportunity to come in and compete for a starting spot during fall camp.
