Coach K has the Utes program rolling in the right direction, and Ute fans are as excited as ever. So if you're a Utes fan, you should be excited to learn about Utah participating in the ESPN Tip-off Marathon, their 24-hours of consecutive coverage to tip-off college basketball season.
Utah will be taking on former Mountain West foe San Diego State at 2pm MT on ESPN. Here are some more details from the ESPN press release:
The seventh annual College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon - more than 24 hours of consecutive coverage to mark the start of the 2014-15 season over Monday, Nov. 17 and Tuesday, Nov. 18 - will feature 19 men's and women's college basketball games across ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. The schedule includes 17 men's games and two top-25 women's matchups.
The Marathon will include nine straight games tipping off every two hours beginning Monday with an ESPN2 tripleheader at 7 p.m., 9 p.m. and 11 p.m., plus two games on ESPNU. ESPN's schedule of five consecutive games starts at noon on Tuesday and concludes with the State Farm Champions Classic. ESPN2 will also televise a Tuesday primetime doubleheader at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
SDSU is coming off of a Sweet-16 appearance last season, and when you add them to a schedule with Wichita State and Kansas, people won't be complaining about Utah's out of league schedule in 2014-15 season.
This season is setting up to be a banner season for Utah basketball. A huge signing class is coming in and most of the major contributors are coming back from last season, add that with the type of schedule Utah has, and when it's on ESPN, Utah has a major chance to open some committee members eyes.
