The Utes are a 3-seed in the Midwest Bracket, and will be taking on the 14-seed Fresno State Bulldogs in the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament. We'll have more on Fresno State a little later.
In the bracket, Utah would take on the winner of Gonzaga or Seton Hall, a tough draw in the 2nd round for the Utes. The 'Zags are a big talented team, and Seton Hall, who just won the Big East Tournament Championship. Within the bracket, the 1-seed is Virginia, who lost to UNC in the ACC title game. On Utah's side of the bracket, and a team Utah could feasibly see in the Sweet-16 is Michigan State, which would be a very tough team to take on. All-in-all, it's a great seed for the Runnin' Utes, but the road to advance is a tough one, that's for sure. Here's to hoping the Oregon game was a serious wake up call. The good news is that Utah won't be traveling too far from home, as they'll be playing their first two rounds in Denver, so Utah fans should be able to travel well. If Utah advances to the Sweet-16, they'll be in Chicago.
Utah is one of seven Pac-12 teams in the NCAA tournament, and they are all seeded 8 or higher, so the tournament committee showed the Pac-12 a ton of love this year.
