NCAA Tournament 2nd Round Day 1 Open Thread: Gonzaga Bulldogs vs. Utah Utes

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

One more step until the Sweet-16 for the Runnin' Utes, but standing in their way is the Gonzaga Bulldogs. A team that mirrors Utah in so many ways. Utah's going to have to pull out their best game of the season to survive this matchup, because Utah hasn't played well at all the last couple of games. If Utah can find a way past the 'Zags, a path to the Final Four actually appears a little bit. With Michigan State out of the picture, Utah is one of the two highest rated seeds in the Midwest Region, including the No. 1 seed Virginia, whom Utah would feasibly meet in the Elite Eight.

Utah is going into tonights game as the underdog in Vegas, and in some other peoples minds. Granted, like previously mentioned, the past two games haven't given people a lot of confidence. Combine that with the Pac-12's poor showing thus far, a lot of people expect Utah to lose tonight. It's going to be a tough game, and as long as Utah takes care of the ball, and finds Jakob Poeltl in the post, I like their chances. If we see the same Utah team that played in the 1st round, then the season will be over tonight.

Let's sit back and watch the biggest game of the season, and GO UTES!
