Per Kyle Goon of the Salt Lake Tribune, Utah Runnin' Utes guard Isaiah Wright and forward Chris Reyes are transferring out of the program. With some of the additions coming into the program, it makes sense that some players were going to leave, because Utah was going to have quite a roster jam. Utah has David Collette, Tyler Rawson, Sedrick Barefield, and Jojo Zamora joining the team next season, along with the return of Parker Van Dyke from his LDS mission.
When it was announced that Rawson was joining, I figured it was just a matter of time until some players were on their way out. Reyes was almost of lock, in my opinion, as he was really going to be the odd man out in the front court next season. I figured Wright was on his way out too, since he roll diminished greatly this season, and next seemed to develop. Although, Goon points out in his article the coaches did want him back, which is a bit of surprise, and makes me wonder who they were eyeballing to leave.
Nothing has been officially announced by the athletic department or the coaches yet, but it will likely be imminent at this point. Transfers are part of everyday life in college sports now, and Utah has benefited on both ends. Next years team will look a lot different with the losses of Brandon Taylor, Jordan Loveridge, Dakari Tucker, Wright, Reyes, and more than likely Jakob Poeltl. It'll be interesting if we see anybody else leave, although, it would come as a bit of a surprise at this point.
