Utah football has announced the signing of Darrin Paulo, a composite 24/7 three-star offensive lineman from powerhouse Grant Union High School in Sacramento, Calif. (the same high school as current Utah running back Devontae Booker). The 6-foot-5, 315 pound lineman is likely best suited to play at guard on the offensive line but could also play at tackle, a position of need for Utah. Paulo was named second team All State in 2014 and MaxPreps All-NorCal first team offensive tackle.
Utah added a lot of talented offensive linemen in the 2015 class. Football is won and lost in the trenches, so getting and developing offensive linemen is key to winning football games. Paulo will likely redshirt in 2015 and will hopefully have time to develop and learn from Jim Harding, who was just promoted to co-offensive coordinator and run game coordinator.
Landing Paulo was huge for Utah. He chose the Utes over offers from programs including Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, USC, Washington State, and Wisconsin.
