Former BYU RB Commit Charles West may be coming to Utah

Courtesy of our friends over at Vanquish The Foe, and our friend YeOldeJimmy for pointing it out to us, it sounds like Utah may be adding a new running back to the roster. Former three-star running back Charles West, a BYU signee in the 2015 class, may be on his way to Utah after dealing with some legal issues the past year.

Per VTF:

11 short days after 2015 National Signing Day, Charles West fell into trouble with the law. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and marijuana possession. On March 31, West would be indicted by a Grand Jury for those charges. In lieu of the charges, Brigham Young University elected to wait for West's legal troubles to be resolved before inviting him to enroll.

The news was broken by former Ute Trevor Reilly on the radio, and then our friend Alex Markham over at Rivals added a bit more to it.

Check out Vanquish the Foe (link above) for more details on Charles and his past.

The question for Utah fans is if he is coming, does he have a scholarship available, and if so, will he be a 2016 enrollee? There is usually attrition each year, such as Delshawn McCllelon moving on, and Masina retiring due to injuries, so there may be a scholarship available. Also, at just 5' 9" and 192 pounds, is he going to be a running back? Obviously, Utah already has Troy McCormmick, who is a similar size, but maybe West, who has been clocked at 4.45 in the 40, could be a wide receiver? Of course, running back is still an option, but it will be interesting to see where he could end up.

One may ask, why would West consider Utah, what ties does he have to the roster? It appears that new Utah wide receivers coach Guy Holliday was West's recruiter while at BYU. You can check out West's highlight reel above.

What are your thoughts about possibly adding West to the roster?
